Alex Lanstein '07 and Candyce Young-Fields '07 developed AD/LDAP Sahana Integration, which is a system that keeps track of a predetermined set of users in the case of a disaster where the institution had to be vacated. This system was part of the
Sahana Project.

Professor Gary Parker and Alex Lanstein '07 were the Connecticut College advisors for the HFOSS course COM225, Topics in Applications Programming - Sahana Project, which was taught by Professor Ralph Morelli from Trinity College via videoconferencing. Connecticut College had five students take the course.

Mellon Post-doc Jana Iyengar and Professor Ralph Morell participated in weekly meetings devoted to developing a workshop for SIGSCE on how to integrate HFOSS into the CS curriculum.

Mellon Post-doc Jana Iyengar, along with collaborators from Trinity and Wesleyan, presented a workshop at ACM SIGSCE on 'Teaching and Building Humanitarian Open Source Software' for faculty interested in implementing HFOSS at their institutions.

Mellon Post-doc Jana Iyengar, along with Professor Ralph Morelli and Trishan de Lanerolle from Trinity College, held a three-hour workshop on 'Teaching and Building Humanitarian Open Source Software' for interested CS faculty at Wagner College, Staten Island, NY.

HFOSS Software Development course offered at the 200 and 300 level:
COM205 and COM305, Topics in Software Development. Principles of software development applied to real-world problems. The problems addressed and computer languages used will vary depending on the available opportunities for application. Students will be part of a team that develops a software system for a real-world customer. Students in Course 305 will be team leaders.

Connecticut College HFOSS Summer Institute:
The 2009 Connecticut College HFOSS Summer Institute will be held at Connecticut College in New London, CT. The 10-week (May 18th to July 24th) institute will engage students in local or international open source projects. The internships come with a $4000 stipend and include on-campus housing for the duration.
